After a long wait we were finally back out racing last weekend in Anglesea in Wales. The team had built a brand new engine and we were taking nothing to chance. This is my favorite track and we new we could be very competitive there. We arrived Thursday morning and walked the track and set up camp. Friday morning the sun was splitting the sky as we took off for morning practice. We spent the day working on our race set up which we got perfect and we were well on the pace. Friday evening the team changed the gearbox as precaution as it was getting hard to find 2nd gear. We had a tasty BBQ and then i went and picked up the traveling support that were coming over for the weekend.
Saturday morning and again the weather was glorious qualifying was early. It was tough we had to get 3 quick times for the 3 races. End result 7th for race 1. Not SO bad only 0.4 of a second off the front row and 0.6 of second off pole again the top 9 drivers within 0.8 of a second.
The race started and i dropped one place to 8th. I settled into a good pace and quickly passed Arther McMahen to move up to 7th and then displaced Gordon Kellett and up to 6th. I was fastest man on track at this stage and got into a 4 way battle for 3rd place. Next Victim Nigal Pratt. I got a great run on him and we went up the back straight side by side. We then touched at 125 mph and Nigal spun and i went onto the grass up the hill, i new i was in a bad way and as i slid i could see Noel Green coming towards me, A big impact and the car severely damaged. unfortunately that was the end of my weekend. To rub salt into the wounds i was then told i was on pole position for race two. Disaster and very unfortunate. I walked away OK and it doesn't look likely that i will make the next round in 3 Weeks time in Kirkistown.
We are still selling tickets for the golf outing on the 30th of July we need your support now more then ever. Its €70 a head for 18 holes of golf in Sutton Golf Club and a 4 course meal in Suttonians rugby club or just €30 if you just want to go to the meal.
Id like to thank the team BT Racing and all my friends who came all the way over to support me as well as my ever reliable sponsors.
